Am sure they are fishing Umatilla right now. Just saw a pic posted of an 18.3 lb toad caught recently from some local water plus read rumors of two 20 lb fish. Don't know if I believe the 20 lb rumors but do believe its time to fish

Thanks Starfish for clearing that up, sort of funny when I called Oregon fish and game I specifically told her I was launching out of the Umatilla boat launch and the answer I got was that I needed one, it appears that they don't know the law that well.

Found it...

http://www.boatoregon.com/OSMB/programs/09LawsFAQs.shtml

What about motorized boats in multi-jurisdictional waters like the Columbia and Snake rivers?

Boats registered in Washington or Idaho do not need an Oregon-issued Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Permit to operate or launch from Oregon into the Columbia or Snake Rivers, or tributaries within ONE RIVER MILE of the Columbia and Snake Rivers for the purposes of accessing them.
Washington and Idaho boaters need a permit when boating in Oregon's state waters including reservoirs, the Multnomah Channel, the Willamette, Deschutes, John Day and other rivers.
Washington boaters pay a surcharge for aquatic invasive species prevention when they register their boats in Washington.
Idaho has a similar Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Permit program. Registered boaters from Idaho have a permit affixed to their boats.

There's a post on another board that included an email from the OSMB explaining the requirements and showing that you don't need it. I'll try to find a copy and post it. It might be worth printing a copy of the email and carrying it in your truck.

Starfish, thats the way I understood it also, I wasn"t real clear so I called the Oregon fish and game and the lady on the phone said that I did in fact need one. I also went to High Desert Marina to get one ( his machine was broke) but he also said he understood the county was the ones doing the enforcing.
