No question, info or anything interesting. Just wondering if anyone still visits.

Will be a shame if this place vaporizes. Maybe things will pick up once the springers and steelies heat up here on the east side.

Going out this weekend... Haven't decided whether to fish from the bank at Drano or off of Plymouth Island yet. Not sure how far I feel like driving. Anyway, I agree with Pasco - It has seemed like a ghost town lately. I'll let you guys know how I do.

I went down to the mouth of the Umatilla yesterday. We had no strikes, bumps or anything else exciting. The umatilla is pumping out chocolate looking mud. The mud line drifts in & out from the bank. I usually like fishing in about 8 ft of water but because of the mud line I was in 18 ft. There was about 8 to 12 boats fishing Oregon & Washington sides. Did not see or talk to anybody that had any luck

Have only been 250 springers over McNary so far and only 3000 over John Day. Word is that Drano has been very slow too. There is either a massive slug of fish waiting to cross Bonneville or we are screwed here inland. The sport harvest in the lower river has been massive.

Despite the dip in Bonneville counts I do believe there are some fish headed our way. The fishing downriver has been too good to not indicate a pile of fish. But I have to say I'm glad they're closing it down there. It seems wrong to allow harvest of almost 30K fish before we've even had 10K across the dam.

That being said, we joined the madness down there for a couple of days yesterday and today (Friday) and got limits for five rods each day. I sure wish they would head up here so we wouldn't have to drive so far! I'm probably going to hit McNary Sunday but I'm not super optimistic.

Thursday afternoon we drove up to Drano after getting our limits and didn't see anything going on-- really dead.

Schlegelstine if you ever do try the spot on Plymouth at light 73 let us know how you do. It sure looks fishy on the NOAA chart, and boaters fish that contour hard, but I have never seen a plunker there.

BTW am glad to see there are folks still around Smile The other boards are interesting but its nice to have one with a few east siders.

Amen to that!

I haven't been posting here much because this site is loading super slowly on my computer- not sure why but half the time it crashes when I try to get on.

By the way, springers have arrived up here now... Cool

Drano Saturday was a bust. I fished for about 5 hours from the bank by the bridge. There were about 50-60 boats on the water in the early AM and around 18 bank anglers. I didn't see a fish caught all day, by boaters or bank anglers. It was pretty darn frustrating... Anyway, probably going back next weekend unless there is a big push of fish up to McNary. Best of luck guys...

I got a fresh report from the Drano front... I was talking with a guy this afternoon and he said that last week was pretty good, but concurred that Saturday and Sunday were dead. He said that he went out this morning and boated 9 fish on 4 rods. It seems that I picked the wrong day to go out... Anyway, best of luck to everyone. I may hit that spot at Plymough Island this weekend and I'll let you guys know how it goes...

Looks like Starfish has the scene dialed in as usual. For the rest of you - be patient; the fish will come. The lower river reports have been unbelievable. Schlegelstine - not sure where you live but the lower Yak is open too. There are lots of decent looking plunking spots and a lot less water to deal with.

Mark, there's still a week to wait before the Yak opens up.

Sounds like this week has been a bit slower at McNary. I snuck out before work Tuesday morning and jumped in a buddy's boat for a couple of hours of skunk... they stayed out until dinnertime with no better luck. I'm hoping for a much better day tomorrow!

That's right. Thanks Don. I've heard of a couple taken plunking below Ice Harbor - not sure where though...

Fished the mouth of the Umatilla for ten hours today, not even a bump. I counted 22 boats on the Oregon side. Did not see any fish caught. Talked to three boats when loading up they also had no luck. Water flow seem to more than it had been. For 5 days of fishing I've caught two wild ones, 1was plus 20 lbs. I could use some tips if any wants to give advice

I wish I could give you better tips! Things really died for me this week. If you've caught a few you're not doing anything wrong.

We fished Umatilla today for two suckers and some smolt action. Pretty slow out there.
