Let's see your favorite winter steelhead riggings. What are you using this season? I would love to see an illustration or an actual picture.

Here is my simple winter steelhead setup when I float fish the Columbia or Snake River for Steelhead. It also does fairly well at the mouth of the Tucannon. I tend to prefer a simple hook/shrimp setup at the mouth rather than a jig/shrimp.

From the top of the line down---
Bobber stop

Float - West coast (this one was a little dirty from the gunk in the water near Mcnary Dam)

Inline weight - (matches the weight for the float)

Jig - I am currently using giving the Beelee Jigs a try

I like to use the exact same West Coast float and inline weight. I put a corkie between the top bead and the float, to help indicate when the rig sets up correctly (the corkie jumps up on the top of the float). I usually use a bare #2 gamagatsu finesse wide gap hook in the summer and early fall, and switch to either a beau mac or first bite bead body jig, or a homemade rock dancer style bucktail, in the middle of winter. When using the large bucktail I switch the inline weight to a plain swivel.

Thanks for the tip, Starfish. I added the Corkie to the line today as you described. It was much easier on the eyes to see if it set up properly.

Good deal. I like to use a contrasting color like chartreuse or chartreuse/red clown, to increase the overall visibility of the presentation too. I can't see worth a dang.
