The Gooey-Bob is a soft vinyl egg cluster which is commonly used for steelhead or salmon. Its unique shape causes it to bounce and dance when drift fished. Fishing with a Gooey-Bob is very similar to fishing with a Lil' Corky, Egg's and Yarn, or a Spin-N-Glo.

Overview -

Typical drift fishing waters consist of a series of pools and rapids, with the pools (drifts) holding feeding, resting or migrating fish. Drift lures fished through these pool areas, with the drift fishing technique, will often produce excellent results.

The basic technique of drift fishing cosists of casting across and slightly upstream. Allow your drift bobber and singer to drift naturally downstream in the current. One of the tricks is to select just the right amount of weight for the water you are in. A weight that is too heavy will tend to snag easily. A weight that is too lite will not keep your drift near the bottom where the hungry fish await. The ideal weight will result in a skipping action as it makes contact with the bottom and then rises before hitting again.

I actually tied some of these to a #2 or #4 hook for fly fishing. I know it's not a fly but most items used for steelhaed and salmon aren't. I have only put a couple casts with it (like tossing a rock) so I havn't yet hooked up. I'm looking forward to trying this agian to see if it works.
