Fished the Toc below starbuck to the weather was perfect and the river was in ...pretty good shape a little low and clear. Did not catch a fish, could not smell a fish...couldn't even buy a fish. none nothing... Few salmon spawning in the river some new fish counter in the river looked pretty cool. I wonder where we could find the stats. from that? bottom line no fish. Talked to a couple of people from Starbuck who said this was as slow a start as they had ever seen.

Thanks for the report. It's good to hear that there's a few chinook in the Tucannon, but that's a bummer to hear about the slow fishing. After reading about the Schoolhouse fire in the Wooten Wildlife area, the Tucannon will need all the fish it can get for the next few years. Then again, maybe the burn will dump some nutrients in the water and result in rich feed for smolts (probably wishful thinking).

Drove up that way just to see the fire area to today. There are so amazingly BBQed parts. But for the most part the bottom (tocannon river bottom) is in pretty good shape. If you know the area...the area around campgound 6 and just below is the hardest hit river stretch we saw all the way up to Curl Lake. it was amazing it will be interesting to see what this does to the wildlife is the area. If you have been to yellowstone since the 1988? fire they will tell you that the fire was great for the Elk. Our blues Elk herd could use some help. I am hopeful that this will not hurt the fire to bad.
