Has anyone bought any of these? I found a guy who sells them, and they look great. I was just curious if there would be any downfalls from custom paint?

What kind of plugs are they? If it isn't already crazing, cracking, peeling or melting the plastic I cant think of any drawbacks.

They are mag warts. I found them online. They are brand new, so there shouldn't be any flaws. Also, they are the Pre-rapala warts, which I have heard are a better engineered plug. Don't know for sure. They look like they are really well done. The guy is out of Yakima, and fishes steelies around here. He has a buddy back east paint them. They look really good. He wants about $12 a piece for them. I am going to buy a couple and see what happens....

Just my humble opinion but no plug that isn't already covered with teeth marks is worth $12. Sometimes color makes a difference but mostly it is the wiggle that catches fish. Only about one in ten (or fewer) of the exact same plug will be a hot producer. Some of my best ones have hardly any color left on them at all.

Also, dunno about paying a premium for Mag Warts for steelhead. They work but smaller plugs like the the standard warts, Tadpollys, etc seem to be a bit better. I do like the Mag Warts for salmon though.

So did you order? How do they look?

Am thinking about buying a cheap airbrush and compressor. Painting plugs and spinner blades should be pretty easy. Would be especially cool if there is a way to order unpainted plugs.

Went to McNary and caught an 11 lb keeper on one of the new plugs. I was stoked! The guy that paints them said he gets "blanks" from somewhere. They are the pre-rapala kind, which he says had better action. I am not sure. I just know that one of them worked for me!

Good looking plug and I also believe he is right about the pre-Rapala Warts.

Nice job Wrangler on the 11lb keeper. My biggest keeper this year is 8lb. Where did you pick it up at?
