Trout Fishing Tucannon Trout on a bite!
Posted by BigCountryJoe on Friday, October 01, 2004 (15:08:48) (1614 reads)

I checked out two of my favorite stretches on the Tucannon this week and found the trout agreeable, eager and fiesty. Using my own pattern of an October Caddis I had little trouble catching and releasing some very nice wild Rainbows almost at will. There have been some Salmon spawning in the upper reaches above the "Lasr Resort" area. With continuing cool nights the water should remain in good shape for the rest of October.

Trout Fishing Tucannon River Fly Fishing Trip
Posted by glock on Saturday, July 31, 2004 (22:17:47) (2243 reads)

I had the opportunity to do some fly fishing today on the Tucannon River. The weather was beautful and the river conditions were great.

I mostly fished with floating line. The water was clear so I used a longer, thinner leader. (8'). I used a strike indicator and a beaded prince nymph.

I did very well. The water seemed warm. The fish appeared to be hiding next to the grass weed banks or holding near the back side of rocks. It was a beautiful trip.

Here are a few pictures of the Tucannon River. Click to enlarge

Trout Fishing Tucannon River Lakes Open March 1st, 2004
Posted by glock on Wednesday, February 18, 2004 (23:04:07) (2305 reads)

Opening day on Tucannon River area lakes is quickly approaching. March 1st marks the opener to fishing for hatchery rainbow trout on Beaver, Big Four, Blue, Deer, Rainbow, Spring, and Watson lakes. All but one of them should be stocked before the opener, reports Doug Maxey. The exception is Big Four Lake. "That's our fly-fishing-only lake," Maxey said. "It's always the last one to thaw and we have to pipe the fish 220 feet across the river from the access area to the lake."

Trout are stocked as "catchables" (six to nine inches) or "jumbos" (one pound or more) throughout the season, which runs until Oct. 31.

Here's what's scheduled for stocking before the opener this month:

Beaver Lake- 500 catchables
Big Four Lake - 3,000 catchables, 300 jumbos (Fly Fishing Only)
Blue Lake- 3,500 catchables, 100 jumbos
Deer Lake - 1,000 catchables
Rainbow Lake- 3,000 catchables, 100 jumbos
Spring Lake- 2,000 catchables, 100 jumbos
Watson Lake- 2,500 catchables, 100 jumbos.
