We made our way to the Touchet River this morning at around 9:30. The water was crystal clear and appeared 6 - 8" lower than last week.
I started my morning by changing from the sink tip line that I have been using to a floating line. Since the water was crystal clear I added around 2' of tippet to my leader. This made the total leader/tippet length to around 8'. I also decided I was going to cast upstream so I added a strike indicator. I stuck to brown and brown/black pattern flies and added a micro weight to the unweighted flies since I was not using the sink tip line.
I was very impressed with the way this setup worked. I was able to work a mend in the line when casting upstream without a problem.
After about 15 minutes on the river I had a nice sized 14" rainbow trout on my line. I worked the river pools in several different areas. I continued upstream to my favorite spot. (pictures posted from previous trips in the photo gallery). My first cast in this hole was one to dream of. It made a great presentation. Bam! Steelhead. It was a nice fighter but was of minimal size. I didn't plan on keeping any fish so size didn't matter anyway.
My partner was upstream from me and had some great luck as well. He was able to hook into a nice steelhead as well.

2 steelhead, 2 Rainbow,1 unknown type trout.
