Great looking catch. This is just the beginning of the Salmon on the Yakima River. The peak should be here in about a week. Lets clean up!

I hope your right Glock as I am scheduled to go on vacation starting next Friday and have grand plans of standing on the bank with my new pole. I know everyone keeps telling me about poles they would use, but I purchased an 8'6 Ugly Stick meant for Steelhead/Salmon fishing. I am really pleased with the action on it and the sensitivity. I will let you know over the next season if I think it gives me an edge over my old pole and reel. Man I am dying, I hope the run is there by next week as I put off my vacation to later in the year just for this reason.

Well, The Yakima was a little more friendly this weekend. I ended up catching two kings. Saturday I caught a monster buck that measured 42". I couldnt tell you who much it weighed because I havent seen one that big before in real life. So if someone has a gues throw it out! I released the buck. It was in pretty rough shape. If you look in the pic you can kind of see that his sides were almost abcessed in places. I know my camera phone sucks but it is what I had at the time. Oh well. Then on sunday I caught a decent hen that was 18-20lbs. I can guess that becuase that is the size I normally catch. I kept the hen for the smoker and the eggs are curing up for the steelhead! I'll post the pics when I can get them in my post!

Nice catch dev88t. I will be heading out tomorrow. Hopefully I will have a picture to contribute.

Flyer. Most people are using a float with roe. I have seen salmon caught on spinners in this river as well.

The season is approaching quickly. I was reviewing all the notes from last year. I am going to be more prepared this year! Good luck to all.
