OK, since JimmyD's clinic shanghaied my previous Ringold thread, let's try again. Smile

Hit Ringold this morning from about 7:30 to 12:30. Drifted eggs and shrimp for a few hours with nothing to show but a few whitefish. Switched to plugs at about 11:00 and banged out two beautiful 9 lb. hens.

Please disregard the picture. The fishing at Ringold is lousy and nobody should go out and try it.

Great going Adipose! That pic looks like the fish was in great shape for this time of year!

It really was in nice shape and the other one was identical. Unfortunately, the meat wasn't terribly pink. Seems all the fish I get there are awfully pale. Maybe I'm just spoiled by salmon and I expect too much?

Nice fish adipose. I ended up heading out to the tucannon yesterday. Went 0/1. Lost it right at the bank. I hooked it in a backwater swirl right on the opposite bank using a bulky chartreuse and black jig. Funny thing is I was hung up on submerged branches. I was pulling and yaking the rod this way and that to free my jig as my bobber never went down. I never knew I had a bite. A couple times I was really pulling, you know, the kind of pulls where you hold your rod staright out with thumb on spool hoping the branch breaks and you save your jig. Long behold it comes free of the snags with a bonus. Fish on! Couldnt beleive it and totally caught me be suprise Shocked That was my first high water bite so I suppose I can be happy with it.

Good job, Dev88. Isn't it funny how you can have a fish on for several minutes with no problems and then lose it right at the bank? How annoying! At least you got to play with him a for a little while before doing a long-distance release.

Anybody else go fishing this weekend?

You keep getting action, Dev. Keep it up!

Adipose, it seems to me that in general Steelhead have less intense color than Kings, especially over here. I caught a Steelhead back in October that was exceptionally pale. I was concerned, but it turned out buttery fat and excellent table fare. As long as the fish is fat it should be good eating. They do get lean as they mature, with their fat getting used up and/or going into the eggs.
