When are they coming?

i have heard rumors that they actually have already started catching a few in the columbia, wierd because the main run does not come through till the middle of march when it seems to become the fish of choice for the locals to target. start watching for my reports on these in the middle of march, I will post as soon as they start running up river

last year it was the end of may before the waters warmed enough to permit the shad to run up river. hopefully this year it be a bit sooner.

I too heard of some being caught recently. It was a point of lengthy discussion on another board with a long debate between doubters and supporters. Pictures were posted, but the skeptics wouldn't buy it. However, there was enough support given to suggest that shad can be found in the Columbia now, but the run won't arrive in significant numbers for a couple months yet.

Seems to me that it's June when we start hitting them hard up here below McNary dam and on the Snake below Ice Harbor.

The first day of more than 20,000 fish at Bonneville was May 23.
