Anybody been out. Weather has changed. I was wondering if conditions are good and there are decent numbers in yet?

This is a copy paste of a report that was emailed to me about the Klick,

Brian,

Your trip is looking good, the river will be full of salmon in two weeks also. If I had a real job and any money I would buy the pontoon you have on your site. This is the latest report I sent to a fellow fly fisher I met last year on the Klickitat. *****

*****,
Fished the Klickitat Fri. through Mon. just camping at Stinson Flats.

*** *****, showed up for five minutes Sun. afternoon and reported that he had fished the mouth of the Deschutes walking up two miles, landed three before the sun hit the water. He was with his wife so he was in a hotel somewhere down around the mouth as she is not a camper. He also fished till dark the same place Sunday evening and did not touch a fish.

I rolled two on the little skater I always use in the same tail out I always fish Fri. evening. I got pretty good at not setting the hook with my 5 wt. single hander but with the spey rod that I was flailing the water with, I twitched my shoulder and forgot to release the slack line I always carry when that big mouth came up behind the fly, and only stuck one and it came off after a couple of head shakes. River was just right and the clearest I have seen it all year.

Sat. colored up quite a bit in the am but was passable in the pm for skaters. Used the spey in the am and the pm with skaters, and the single hander 8 wt. for the sinking tip nymph/swing the rest of the day. A ninth grader that was camped next to me was using an old fiberglass Fenwick 5 wt. was stripping back in a size 14 Royal Coachman at the head of the boat launch and a steelhead followed the fly on the surface right to his feet. Quite a funny site, watching him while he was yelling running backwards and stripping, the fish eventually caught up to the fly when he sat down in the water and it was off down the river he goes. He had it on for about three minutes before it broke his trout leader. That was the only fish hooked by all the people camped at Stinson on Sat. I can't say I even had a good pull but I still have not used the bait rod.

Same off color water in the am Sunday and Monday but still fishable but not really good for the surface. Evening are a lot cleaner the higher you are this year. Finally landed a fish at noon on Sunday. Largest fish I have landed on any river, 35" hatchery that is still in the gene pool. Hooked with the 8 wt. sinking tip swing in the tailout of the boat launch amidst all the rocks just above where we cross the river. Had two nice tugs in the camp hole also but still few fish being hooked.

The boats are catching a few every day, more and more salmon are showing up. Lots of people running the river in all kinds of floating devices. I have fished the hole above clay bank three times this year and have not even had a good tug. It just may be a no fish hole. That is the latest report, long winded also.
