This weekend I was fishing at my normal spot on the Skagit river. I usually fish a spot where two rivers converge. One illegal, one legal. I picked out a spot where it could not be disputed where and what I was fishing for. I spent the day fishing my spot and watching as 3-4 other anglers fished the illegal river and were pulling Chum salmon out. Nice guys too. They came over to me at the end of the day and asked how I was doing and even offered up the rig that they were using to catch their fish. I informed them that what they had done was illegal and if they were caught that they would suffer some serious fines. They let me know that they lived in the area and it was alright. Well, I know that it isn't. My question is; Should I have called Fish and Game and let them know what was happening? I really dont want to be the cause of some hefty fines being levied on someone, but if everybody just turned a blind eye then wouldn't it affect the next years catch and so on? Please let me know what you would have done or if you have done it before. I have been fishing the spot regularly now and can attest that it happens on a regular basis. Should I call the Wardens if I see it again?

I wouldn't hesitate to. They may not get them that time, but I sure would hope that the Wardens would monitor that spot a little more closely going forward.

I wouldn't have one bad feeling about doing that. I do know that there are some pretty sketchy characters that live up in the Concrete area. Maybe make sure that you feel safe before doing it!
