I will not disclose my location, but those who know me, know. A good day of fishing. Started 615am Sunday done at 1030am. Four steelers, all fresh and bright.

My day started bad because I left all my gear at home, So I had one bronze spinner and my rod. Thats it.........

The photo included is a fishing tale of most our dreams and in fact before I caught it, I was thinking to myself,"Wouldn't it be awesome if there was a fish in that hole? and if there was how would I land it." So I went ahead and threw the spinner in.

This hole was where the river was up against a rock ledge "aka devils rock," The current was fast against the rock ledge, the run was about 75 feet long, I was standing about 15 feet directly above the run. I was about 10 feet down from the head of the run. Sooooooo I dropped my spinner on the opposite side from me and as soon as my spinner hit the calm water, out from the current comes as massive fish(I think the water made it look bigger). At first I thought it was a 'nook. The fish bumped my spinner and followed it into the current and then.................... BAMMMM!!!!

This fish was so pissed off, it made three full runs from the bottom of the run all the way to the top. I have never had a fish from this watershed fight me so hard!

The bottom line is that, sometimes your wildest fishing dreams do come true. That doesn't always mean a huge fish. To watch that fish from directly overhead, swim out and take my spinner was awesome.

When I got home, I weighed and measured the fish. 10.2 lbs and 31". This was a strong fish and sorry the picture sucks.

I was looking at the picture of the fish, trust me looks are deceiving. This is an iphone picture at a weird angle..... its on the side of a rock ledge and I almost died taking the picture.

In my attempt to be scientific, I hit the river early this year. The water in the main fish highway is still really warm and the flows in the little river were good. The lower river was still a little warm, but a little ways up the water was about 10 degreees cooler. All the steels caught were fresh, larger than normal, especially in the shoulders, and full of fight. I'm assuming some fish may be ducking up into the river to enjoy the cooler water. It was a beautiful day and I enjoyed the walk to the car along the highway with my keeper. I waved to all the guys passing me pulling their boats!

Double "d" I did the dreaded hwy bridge walk to below T*****orial Rd, which means when you're alone you have to walk the whole way back.......in waders by the highway.............. In my mind I was like this "totally blows, sucks, erks, holy sh*t, I still have that far to go?"

Either way, it was a very productive day. I finally learned to start just a wee bit later, because I never catch anything early morning. Well I punched a few more on my card, cough cough, 7 minus six, plus five, minus 3 equals? Yeah good day. I missed two.

I had to keep one, hook in the eye. I have really started practicing catch and release and if I am forced to keep on, well I make sure it gets consumed and not wasted.

By the way, this river is awsome and it seems to be benefitting from all the conservation efforts. Look how when we don't stress an ecosystem it will always persevere. Its reclaiming most of what was taken from it in the past couple decades. TALK ABOUT AWESOME!!!!! Hey did I ever show you this?????

Damn that's a pig. Nice B-run beast.

We were from T.Rd on down. I noticed the dam right above Trd washed out and now the frog water is gone. I like it better now Wink

Might be back Sunday afternoon. I think it's just going to get better. Seen the friggen numbers? Like 500,000 over bonniville. Breaking all kinds of records.

I hit it again today with my dad. We fished t.rd as well. One in the pool right at the bridge and I caught one at the hwy bridge. You'll never beleive it, all on bobber fishing. Right now it seems like the fish are hiding in the pool tailouts, water too low.

God I hate pink stained hands....

both fish were classic tucannon cookie cutters........

If I called it a season today, I would be satisfied. Im not going to though

Had a great time with DD on that stretch! He was the only one to hook into a steelie but I learned a lot about tossing flies.
I am thinking of heading there in the morning after I get off work this morning. One good thing about graveyard shift I guess!

On another note. If anyone finds a black sprint rant cellphone, it's mine lol. Lesson learned.
