I'm looking to replace my cheap wal mart jigs for steelhead with some better quality ones per say. I'm still a newbie at steelhead fishing so is there a big diffrence from the no bead head jigs to the ones that have 2 or 3 beads under the head?. And I'm stuck between slys or over the edge tackle jigs. I mainly fish at ice harbor dam and use a shrimp with the jig

I've had good luck with First Bite jigs and some of the other fancy ones like dingleberries etc. but also the inexpensive Beau Mac ones work fine. Sometimes they prefer bead bodies and sometimes others. In the middle of winter I like to use big ugly bucktail jigs; I tie my own but the cheap rock dancers do fine too.

In the early season I like to just run bare dyed shrimp with no jig. In general I haven't found jig selection to be all that critical; they all work.

I've always had luck with Rock Dancers. It seems to be my "go to" jig when all else fails.

If I am using jigs, I am on the bank. If I am on a boat, I am almost always trolling.
