Is anyone fishing the Ringold area? I have had some reports from a few friends of mine that fishing has been picking up.

I've had some good reports but haven't tried it myself. Bankie with eggs or boatie with bait are both working. A buddy also got one on a flyrod the other day.

Fished there today for a couple hours--nada, but saw several others caught, including a dandy that was well over 30" which is a little unusual for Ringold. Last time I went I was 1 for 2 for half a day--pretty typical for me at Ringold.

You can see from the hydrograph:

Priest Rapids hydrograph

the flow varies a lot. With the cold weather, electrical demands are pretty high so they're often running a lot of water through the dams. It's worth checking the flow before heading to Ringold if you're banking it.

Thank you Starfish for the web site:

Question: do you know the optimum flows to fish the bank at Ringold? The fluctuations can be extreme. Also, is there a time lag for the flow to reach Ringold? It is a few miles below Ringold...

There's about a 4 hour lag on rising water and maybe as much as five on dropping water between Priest Rapids and Ringold. I don't do a lot of bank fishing but I generally prefer low water (40K to 75Kcfs) for bank fishing just because it's easier access. You can still catch fish in high water and in fact for boat fishing I kind of prefer it high.
