I am heading out Friday to go salmon fishing in the lower columbia. Any ideas on places to go, techniques? Any helpful tips would be greatly apreciated, especially since the counts are so low coming over Bonneville and the only places I have ever gone is the Wind and Drano.

when you say lower columbia I assuming below bonneville dam towards portland area ? in which the fishing has been slow right below bonneville, better as you get down towards washougal but the best fishing is happening between woodland (lewis river) and longview (cowlitz river)
as far as the wind goes only one word SLOW same for drano and the white salmon and hood river area but the fishing is picking up everyday in the portland area so soon it gonn be just red hot everywhere
good luck and hope this helps some. if you pick a specific area (bank or boat launch)I might be able to give you more details and what seems to be hitting especially if it is below bonneville

Went out yesterday to St. Helens and saw about 6 or so fish netted. Seems to be picking up and has been a good bite lately. Fish the tides for the best luck
Good luck

Hold on for dear life!!!

Glad someone is catching fish. Spent 12 hrs on the water today and didn't get one take down. Didn't see many fish caught. Fished the St Helens area all the way up to Goat Island. Starting to get discouraged. Maybe try again tomorrow

We had a inappropriate response from someone in here that I have removed. just a reminder this is a family board read by all ages and we need to watch what we write so that people are not offended, the post was not made by a registered user, as of now guests are allowed to post in the forums but if this becomes a issue it will have to be locked down to members only. so please do not abuse the board or just come to the forums to create havoc.
Thanks
Aaron
