I'm so sick and tired of theives getting in my crab pots. Just wondering how widespread it is and how many others this is happening to. It seems like everyone I talk to about crabbing has this problem. I think it's time for the WDFW to crack down and I plan on writing to them. Not that it will do any good.

I crab with my father-in-law at Dungeness Bay in Sequim. We usually give our pots a good 24 hour soak. Almost every single time I have been out our pots have been pulled and checked by a thieves. In pots that are left alone we usually have a nice mix of rock and dungeness. Other pots within 20 yards of the others have nothing but rock crab or are completely empty. One time they left an emtpy bucket in a pot just to spite us. Two out of three of our pots came up empty this weekend as well. I've spoken to a lot of others at the boat launch and they all complain that their pots have been robbed and they all say the same thing "I wish I could catch whoever is doing it".

I wish the WDFW would do a sting with severe penalties. If they're caught in the act confiscate their boats and suspend all fishing priveledges for 5 years. Word of penalties like that would spread fast and keep theives out of my pots!

Thank you for reading my rant!
