Has anyone fished the mouth of the Yak from a boat before? Just curious if that has seen anymore action than we have been seeing upriver.

My uncle used to do it with great success (last year...couple of fish hooked/landed each time anyway). He's abandonded the uppe columbia for other waters this year. I've personally never fished there.

Dev,

I trolled the Columbia right off the mouth (Bateman Island) a couple times this year but came up empty--not even a bump for me. I did see several fish jump and a nice one caught, but from what I can tell the run is quite a bit smaller than the last few years and the Yak has been particularly slow this year.

Hey! That's where my uncle relocated to Smile

Should be more productive than the upper Col, but for general activity you might consider above McNary instead.

Silvers should be around the Klick the endo of this month.

Hey DoubleD

I went to fish above McNary, but unless you have a boat there really isn't anywhere to fish.

The area up by the pump house is closed off unless you want to risk getting a ticket for crossing the train tracks.

That has got to be the stupidest thing I have ever seen. It's not like you can't see a mile down the track both ways and see if a train is coming before you cross the track.

What a bunch of crap!! It's not like there is alot of places to fish from the bank in the first place! Please save me from the train tracks, because they are so dangerous!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!

Well here's to one more fishing spot down the drain!!!!!!!!!!

Seems like the Yak run is mostly over. I went to the very upper reaches(Easton) of the Yakima Sunday. I fish an egg pattern behind redds with fish on them for rainbows chowing down on errant eggs. I only saw one live king on a redd. All other redds were abandon already. I think the much cooler Sept. inticed the fish to zip right up to the spawning grounds and do their thing earlier than warm years. There were only two sets of tags marking the redds so far. Also the number of redds were down.
