Morning,

I'm new up to the Tacoma area and I'd like to get into fishing from the shore and piers around here for pretty much anything swimming by. Salmon are great but I grew up on the East coast and am interested in surf perch and flounder as well.

Anybody else out there doing something like this?

John

There is some excellent surf fishing over by the Port of Illwaco. Shouldn't be to long of a drive away from you. You can stop in the bait shop in town and purchase some clams.

If you talk nicely to the bait shop owner, he will point you towards the lite house on the beach side not the river side. Where you can catch both Perch and Sea Bass. It makes for an awesome day of fishing.

If you go let me know how things went.

Thanks Rae. I was planning on a coast run some time soon. Waiting now for some VA paperwork to wander through so I can get my discounted fishing license.

Beach side of the light house huh? And clams for bait? I'll remember that. I'm just learning about tides as well. Going to be quite an education.

Thanks again and good fishing.
