Clearwaterfun,

I can't say much for jigs or drift gear, but I've found that for spinners, the color doesn't seem to make much difference. When they're biting, they'll hit just about anything, and when they're not, they won't touch anything I throw at 'em. I know color is more important for jigs and drift gear--maybe someone will chime in with some advice. When I try those tactics, I've pretty well stuck with the basic colors--red, white, black and pink.

Would you say that most of the people you see on the river are using spinners?

I have had a fair amount of success on the tucannon this winter. I have been going with jigs and bobber tipped with a prawn tail. I have seen most people either drift fishing corky and yarn, or bobber and egg fishing. Earlier in the post I told about my best day I have had this winter. Most of the time I am only floating my jig 18-24" under. I have had a couple of hook ups earlier in the year on spinners, but that is it for me.

Sounds good. I think I am going to try and get out on the Tucannon Wednesday. Tomorrow I will be on the Clearwater.

I went out today. It was a nice day out, and that is were the good ends. I ended up going 0-3 today. Two of them should have been landed, and the third on lept over a little falls and wrapped around a branch and bye-bye. Though it did make for a memorable battle. The good thing is there are still being fish hooked!

Hey 0-3 beats 0-0. If we landed every one it wouldn't be as exciting. The best part is the hook set anyway.

I think I might start up on tucannon road and work my way to the hatchery. There was a big push of fish through the lower part two weeks ago after things dropped from the big rains.

I have had success with several different colors. Pink, White, Red, Black, Chartreuse. Of course not all on the same jig!

I fished an area around Highway 12. I had a nibble, but that was it. I was fishing with my fly rod (of course). I threw a leech and a black nymph pattern. I found some nice water and was able to drift my fly through the hole. I could see an average sized hatchery style steelhead laying on the bottom, but no taker. The water was crystal clear and cold.

I also had a chance to punch a hole in my neoprene waders. The holes were calling my name so I couldn't stop. I had to continue and tuff it out.

The company was great. I had a chance to fish with DoubleD and learned about his magical corkies.

The water was great but the trip was expensive.
